這個星期六我們去了都柏林最好吃甜點咖啡廳之一:塔之女王(直譯)。
This Saturday we visited one of the best cafe and patisserie in Dublin, Queen of Tarts.

這間甜點咖啡廳在都柏林很受歡迎,也很常出現在美食報導/排名中,像是都柏林最好吃的十大甜點、都柏林甜點這樣吃、都柏林最好吃的司康、都柏林必吃起司蛋糕、都柏林最好吃的甜點店等等,連「人生在世一定要去都柏林吃一次的巧克力蛋糕」這種的,塔之女王都有上榜。
This cafe and patisserie is very famous in Dublin and has been on a number of gourmet lists, such as top ten desserts in Dublin, the best places to have desserts in Dublin, best scones in Dublin, the best cheesecakes in Dublin or the best bakeries in Dublin, etc. Even titles like “10 Chocolate Desserts In Dublin You Absolutely Have To Try Before You Die" you can see Queen of Tarts on the list.

塔之女王的甜點種類很多,而且都是在餐廳廚房每天新鮮現做的,除了甜食以外也有鹹食,像是例湯、三明治、沙拉等,都是看起來很豐盛的早午餐。不過我和先生去塔之女王就是為了吃甜點!去之前我還上網查了一下,希望到時候可以點到最讓我滿意的甜點,我一看到網路上維多利亞蛋糕的照片,我就決定要選這個經典的甜點!
Queen of Tarts serves an assortment of home baked goods. Everything is made fresh in the kitchen and you also have savory options such as soup, sandwiches and salads for a hearty brunch. However me and my husband visited Queen of Tarts simply for their famous sweet pastries. I researched a bit before we went, trying to choose one dessert that I would enjoy the most and as I saw those pictures of their Victorian Sponge cake I made up my mind to go for this traditional treat. 

這間甜點咖啡廳位在都柏林 2 區的中心,附近走路就能到的景點很多,像是都柏林城堡、古老的基督大教堂、都柏林三一學院和看了就醉的都柏林酒吧區(Temple Bar)等等,所以如果你有打算到這附近走走,千萬不要錯過塔之女王~!
The restaurant is located in the heart of Dublin city center and is within minutes walk from Dublin Castle, Christchurch Cathedral, Trinity College and Temple Bar. So if you happen to be in this area make sure you pay this amazing place a visit.

我們大概是下午四點到的,店員很客氣地請我們等 10 分鐘左右,因為我們想坐在裡面,所以要等,不然室外還有一些空位,店員人很好,而且有問必答。
We arrived around 4 in the afternoon and were politely asked to wait for 10 minutes since we preferred indoor seats. The staffs are very friendly and prompt.

這間咖啡廳有兩層,但是不大,菜單上有午餐、早午餐的選擇,招牌司康和鹹甜口味都有的塔,有人說都柏林最好吃的司康就在這裡,他們家的紐約起司蛋糕、鬆脆蘋果塔和山核桃派也很受歡迎,你可能會覺得奇怪,為什麼在愛爾蘭賣紐約起司蛋糕,那是因為這間店的兩個創始人,也是主要的糕點師傅,就是去紐約學做甜點的,他們應該是想把自己的經歷一起帶到烘焙中吧。
It is a rather small two-story cafe and the menu also features lunch and brunch options, scones, and savory tarts. It is said to be one of the best place to have a proper scone in Dublin and their New York cheesecake, apple crumbles and pecan pies are among customers most favorites. Oh and if you wonder why an Irish cafe sells New York cheesecakes it is because the two founders and chefs were trained in New York so I think they just kind of establish a connection of their experience with the things they make.

十分鐘後服務生就來帶位了,我們的座位在一樓的櫥窗旁邊,櫥窗裡面擺滿了可愛的復古茶杯和碟子,我超喜歡這類的瓷器,好美又好精緻,如果家裡有類似的茶具,隨便泡個下午茶就可以喝得很有奢華的感覺。
After 10 minutes we were led to our seats on the ground floor right next to a glass door cabinet filled with antique saucers and cups. I love love love this kind of porcelain they are so delicate and beautiful. I know it’s just all feels but if you have something like this at home you can definitely make your own afternoon tea time feel extra extravagant.

我們的左上方有個黑板,上面寫了當日的例湯和歐姆蛋,還有特別的甜點口味。| Right above us there was a blackboard listing the daily soup, omelette and special treats of the day.

塔之女王在都柏林 2 區有兩間店,但我推薦的是在丹姆街上的原始店,這家店很可愛,櫃台擺了一堆甜點,整間咖啡廳到處都是可愛的茶杯和碟子。
There are two Queen of Tarts in Dublin 2 and I recommend you go to the one on the Dame street. It is the original shop and the whole place is so adorable decorated by sweets on the counter and teacups and saucers basically everywhere.

這間店比較受歡迎的甜點有:

維多利亞海綿蛋糕傳統的維多利亞夾心海綿蛋糕,中間夾的是當季的莓果果醬和鮮奶油。
奢靡巧克力山核桃塔山核桃塔搭配濃郁的比利時巧克力和酥脆塔皮。
女王的巧克力熔岩蛋糕巧克力夾心蛋糕淋上一層巧克力甘納許,最外層則有烘烤過的椰絲。
紅蘿蔔蛋糕濕潤的紅蘿蔔蛋糕,外層是濃郁滑順的糖霜,並灑上碎堅果。
貝禮詩香甜酒起司蛋糕巧克力豆起司蛋糕,搭配愛爾蘭貝禮詩香甜酒。
當季的鬆脆奶酥草莓和大黃口味、黑莓和蘋果口味。
紐約覆盆莓起司蛋糕香濃的烤香草起司蛋糕裡面還有覆盆莓。
各種司康、杯子蛋糕、布朗尼和餅乾。

The followings are their famous goodies:

Victorian Sponge Cake: Delicious layered cake with fresh seasonal berries and preserve.
Decadent Chocolate Pecan Tart: Pecan tart with rich Belgian chocolate and pastry crust.
Queen of Chocolate Fudge Cake: Layered cake covered in a luxurious chocolate ganache and laced with toasted coconut shavings.
Carrot Cake: A moist carrot cake covered in rich creamy icing sprinkled with chopped nuts.
Bailey’s Cheesecake: Baked cheesecake with chocolate chips and a dash of Bailey’s Irish Cream.
Seasonal Crumbles: Strawberry and Rhubarb, Blackberry and Apple
New York Raspberry Cheesecake: Baked vanilla cheesecake filled with raspberries.
Scones, cupcakes, brownies and cookies.

我們分別點了溫熱黑莓蘋果鬆脆奶酥和維多利亞海綿蛋糕,我們也決定一起分享一個紐約覆盆莓起司蛋糕,飲品我點了摩卡咖啡,先生則點了檸檬薑茶。
We ordered a hot blackberry and apple crumble, a Victorian sponge cake and we also decided to share a New York raspberry cheesecake together. I ordered a cup of cafe Mocha and my husband ordered a pot of lemon and ginger tea.

在等待的同時我好期待啊~這家咖啡廳小小的、有點擁擠,有種很忙碌、很活潑的氣氛,不時還可以聽到後面廚房的聲響,人們進進出出、談天說地、大笑、還有對著甜點驚嘆的聲音,這裡不是那種很安靜、很優雅、很有氣氛的咖啡廳,但是店裡面的氛圍讓人覺得溫馨,有種獨特的舒適感。
I was so excited as we were waiting for our desserts. The cafe isn’t very big, a bit crowded actually. It feels busy and lively and you could hear sounds coming from the kitchen at the back, people talking, laughing and gasping at their sweets. Don’t expect a quiet, elegant atmosphere but it is heart-warming and cozy in its own way.

我的維多利亞海綿蛋糕超級好吃的,海綿蛋糕濕潤、有份量,鮮奶油很輕盈滑順,中間的覆盆莓果醬夾心更是錦上添花,維多利亞海綿蛋糕在這天榮登我最喜歡的甜點之一。我先生的黑莓蘋果鬆脆奶酥送上來是有加熱過的,他說他下次要吃冷的,下次是重點哈哈哈。這個鬆脆奶酥很紮實、濃郁,一下子就把先生的心和胃填滿了,我個人覺得我們一起分享的起司蛋糕是今天吃到最好吃的第二個甜點,覆盆莓點綴在起司蛋糕裡面,外面一層充滿奶油香、口感不會太鬆散的塔皮,起司蛋糕本身很濃郁,覆盆莓的酸度平衡的剛剛好,真的很好吃。飲品的話就是表現普通,沒有非常特別。
My Victorian’s sponge cake was so delicious. The sponge was moist and voluminous and the cream was so light and fluffy. Raspberries and the jam enriched each bite. It is easily one of my favorite desserts now! My husband’s blackberry and apple crumble was served warm and he said that he would like it to be cold next time, next time is the keyword here lol. The crumble was a very dense and luxurious experience, it filled my husband’s stomach and heart fairly easily. Personally I think the cheesecake we shared was the second best desserts we had that day. The raspberry cheesecake was filled in a buttery and tasty tart which was not too crumbly. The cheesecake itself was creamy in texture and the acidity of raspberry was such a nice addition to the flavor. The drinks did their jobs, being good but not exceptionally special.

吃著這些甜點,每一口都好享受,我們兩個慢慢地享用了下午茶,感覺好舒服、好愜意,心裡格外地滿足。先生發現咖啡廳裡面,幾乎每個人看起來都很開心,我想也是,在這個冷冷的星期六下午,和自己喜歡的人優閒地吃著如此美味的甜點,要不開心都難。
Each bit of these desserts was like in heaven. We took our time and enjoyed our sweets and drinks. It was so soothing and satisfying and it truly filled my heart with content and bliss. My husband pointed out that almost every one in the cafe looked happy. Well it is very difficult to get angry when you sit in a nice cafe on a cold Saturday afternoon and enjoy scrumptious desserts with your loved ones.

還是很難想像,今天來這家店竟然是我的主意,我以前真的一點都不愛吃甜點,但是不知道為什麼,自從我們開始低醣飲食後,我的甜點胃像是被解放了一樣,我變得很喜歡、很享受甜食,重點是我開始知道為什麼甜點好吃。這麼多年來,準確地來說是 28 年,我都不嗜甜點,現在卻有好多美味的甜點向我招手,我已經準備好迎接吃貨人生的新篇章了,哈哈哈。不過我有點擔心,因為我對甜點的喜愛正在開發中,還不知道節制,這天吃完蛋糕和塔,我非常滿足地跟先生說:「好好吃喔,我覺得我還可以再吃!」語畢我們兩個都覺得有點恐哈哈哈。
I couldn’t believe that I was the one that made the proposal to come here because I didn’t really like desserts before. However my sweet tooth officially grew out after we began the LCHF diet a month ago. I am not sure why but ever since that diet I have been hooked and begun to enjoy all kinds of sweets. Most importantly, I also begin to appreciate desserts. After all these years, 28 years to be exact, of not liking desserts at all, I’m now on a new adventure of discovering all sorts of good stuff in the world and I’m super excited hahaha. I’m a bit worried though with my seemingly unsatisfiable appetite for desserts because after we ate the cake, the tart and had the drink I told my husband I felt great and could have more lol. He was equally shocked as I by the remark.

這間甜點咖啡廳真的很不錯,雖然我不能掛保證說這家是都柏林最好吃的甜點店,畢竟這也才是我在都柏林評價的第一間甜點店,但是這裡絕對是值得來吃吃看的。我一定會再來,下次我想試試看大家推薦的司康,我也想試試看紅蘿蔔蛋糕和巧克力布朗尼。(已經很期待了哈哈哈哈)
It is a really nice café and patisserie. I can’t say it is the best in Dublin since this is practically the very first desserts & cafe shop I visited in Dublin. It is however definitely worth a visit. I would love to come here again and try their famous scones next time. I would also like to try their carrot cakes and perhaps a brownie! (I’m already looking forward to it lol.)
